GTYD 2009

So in addition to riding bikes, making clothes and bullshit, another one of my big passions is golf. Which brings me to this post..
I do this golf trip GTYD (golf til you drop) once a year in early September with like 7 other dudes. I think its my fifth or sixth year but i can’t remember because they all seem to run into each other with memories of heat, my bad golf game and shitty beer. Now these dudes range in from 30’s to 60’s so its kinda like this mash of father figures, ideas, male bonding and acting like 14 year olds for 3 days. Lotta sports talk, lotta dick jokes and LOOOTTTTSSSSAAAAA Miller Delight. We play two rounds of golf at different courses each day in the sweltering Palm Desert heat, in upwards of 105 degree temperatures usually.
Then we go to a sports bar (Beer Hunter) drink way too much and laugh at all the same stories that we laughed at the year before or events that happened recently or that day. Now we aren’t just friends, most of us have also worked in the “real world = dayjobville” with each other helping each other out in some capacity so there’s even more of a connection here.
I can’t wait for this years version “drink til you drop”, “golf til you die” as its been referred to in the past. We’re going to see Sknyrd (i’m as free as a bird now) on Saturday night so that will be rad)! (that Sunday morning round is going to be rough)! I’ve had some of the most wickedest mornings of my existence on this trip, so hopefully i can make it back to print up some more wack tshirts. haha

Death Pedal – Relief for Jake & Patrick

Run it up!

Off to sin city for the third time in six months. I hadn’t been in years and now, damn what the hell am i thinking! My mom says i’m always on vacation now (well those day jobs always seem to get in the way before). This trip is only a little pre vacation compared to GTYD which is coming in a few weeks (more on that one later)…gotta work on stick or be embarrassed AGAIN this year.

Da Raidaz

Oh yeah going to my first NFL pre season game up in Oaktown to see Nation vs. Cowboys tonight. Sitting by the black hole so its going to be awesome! YES i’m fucking latino and from muuuuthaaaafuking LA so that means I have to like the Nation, so all y’all haters can step off (haha) I even played pop warner tackle football as a young kid before i became an antisocial punk rock skateboard artfag wannabe.

THANKS JOE L. YOU DA FUCKING MAN!!!
(if your reading a lame bike blog!

Venice Chill Ride – alleycat

Was a killer time but not really so chill over in Venice Beach. Even though i picked a 5 as the bonus and finished way further back than i wanted i still had a blast. hey 29th (ouch) isn’t too bad…at least i didn’t get hit by a car or get tickets for running reds (i saw a few cops on main too)…i guess that’s why i make shirts instead of winning races haha…excuses are like assholes, everyone has one.

Nocturnal Cyclists – Sundays Downtown LA

Did this ride last sunday with Mikey and J-Timberlake. Very cool route downtown to/through Boyle Heights industrial section. Cool chill peeps who just liked riding, can’t beat that. I didn’t really see this gal there though…

Taco Tuesday – Culver City

Damn this ride is crazy, not a lot of riding or tacos but a lot of partying and swinging on flag poles.

Finally getting some love!

WolfPack – all city race!

What a great fucking time on a hot Sunday summer day, Silverlake to Dockweiler Beach! Here’s the route to take if you wanna take the long way there haha. I suggested a different route (but there is no “i” in team right!? At least four out of the five members of our team made it to the finish line with only a few minor crashes, close calls and whatnot (i only crashed twice)! Who knows what happened to the fifth rider…

Green Collar Economy – Van Jones

This is a great book i’ve been reading lately about how the US should be desperately moving towards a “greener” direction. Wish he had a section on bikes..
